Day 8 UUBL: Spring 2012

1/14/201

Well, today is the moment of truth, the first official weigh in, since we started, and I will say I am not displeased with my first weeks results. Starting weight was 230.3, and I am not down to a svelte 219.6 yay. Still a long way to go though.

I have a busy busy weekend, unfortunately nothing very exciting, just things that need taking care of. Was supposed to go to two jams this weekend, and was really looking forward to the one today, but will have to miss it, and I already knew I would not make the one tomorrow. Ah well, There is another on the 28th, I will just have to be sure to make that one.

Kinda of being lazy this am, Just drinking my coffee, haven't had any breakfast yet, will do that in a bit and then add it.

Day 7 UUBL: Spring 2012

1/13/2012

Last day of the cycle before the first weigh in report. Weight loss was a little less today, only down to 221.4, but a loss is still a loss.

Had a pretty quite night last night, I think I wore myself out with that 30 min bike ride, I was huffing and puffing like the Big Bad Wolf for quite a while after. I remember when I used to be able to ride all day, hope to at least get part way back to that point.

Breakfast:
1 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup raisins
1 apple
1 TBS Honey.
Coffee (black, no sugar)

24 oz water

Lunch:
3/4 cup vegi stir-fry w/szechuan sauce
3/4 cup brown rice

8 oz water

Just got back form a brisk 20 minute walk with the wife, and youngest son, was nice having a bit of company, and was just too cold for a ride today.

Dinner:
4.5 oz Tilapia-grilled
3/4 cup Butternut Squash-baked
1 apple.

Day 6 UUBL: Spring 2012

1/12/2012

So day 6 is upon us, and the routine has somewhat set in. Nothing big going on with the UUBL, I continue to lose at a steady pace, which makes me happy. down to 221.9. Kinda wondering when the rate will begin to taper off a bit.

I have been playing my Paulele the last couple days, because, while I like it a lot, I don't baby it as much as my KoAloha, so I will lay it down unprotected where the kids/dogs are, which makes it much easier to just play while up in the main part of the house. Spent some time last night down in the bedroom with the KoAloha, and got a chill as I was reminded why I fell in love with this instrument. It just plays so smooth, and rings so clear. I am so happy to have this Uke. Which,  I wouldn't, if it weren't for my wonderful wife. As a way of a little back ground, I had never really been a fan of the KoAloha look, so never showed much interest in them. I was thinking of getting a LoPrinzi, and was trying several out at the local Uke store, but just wasn't feeling it. I would still like to try a LoPrinze Nova sometime, and possibly add it to my collection, as I hear they are a wonderful instrument, but that is for another day. So, hadtried all the LoPrinzies on the wall, and several others as well, and on a whim, I picked up the KoAloah, and it was love at first strum. I have no explanation, other than there was a connection, and it said take me, I'm yours. With 6 kids, and a wife out of work, there is not a lot of spare $$ just sitting around for impulse buys, so I immediately began my savings plan, and visited several times a week, hoping each time that it would still be there. My wife, realizing my obsession, took money she had earned in one of her side hobbies, and put a down payment on the Uke, and made arrangements with the owner, to hold it, until we could pay the rest off, which we did as quickly as we could accumulate the extra money.  Needless to say this Uke has a special place in my heart, and I have the best wife in the whole world, who is willing to feed my obsession. :)

On to today's meals.

Still working on getting the exercise in full swing. Maybe today is the day.

Weight is down to 223.8 this am, so currently the loss is pretty steady,

Went and got my son signed up for his Uke lessons yesterday, so he is all excited about that. they will start on the 16th. He really loved the last session, and he practices everyday, so it looks like at least one of the kids has been infected with the bug. :)

Day 4 UUBL: Spring 2012

1/10/2012

And day 4 is upon us.

I was really hoping to get out and walk/jog/bike, or something yesterday, but I found myself completely drained by the time I got home from work. I guess the reduced calorie input is having a bit of an effect. That, and the fact that it was cold and rainy, didn't help either. Will have to double my effort today.

Down to 225.4 this morning, but these are the easy pounds. Not sure what my calorie intake was during the holidays, but I suspect I have easily cut it in half . I also give a little credit to that fact that I cut off about 8 inches of beard yesterday, when my lovely wife informed me she wasn't all that fond of the mountain man look. :)  Ah well. She wasn't too crazy about my handlebar mustache faze last year either.

I had planned  on this even before I new about the UUBL, but I must say, doing it with a group like this really does make it a bit easier, and defiantly more enjoyable, than going it alone.

I quick thanx to glass for introducing me to the lose it! app. I think it is going to be another useful tool in getting to my goal.  If I am doing it right, I only took in 1485 calories yesterday.

Breakfast:
1 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup raisins
1 apple
1 TBS Honey.
Coffee (black, no sugar)

Any one who isn't using the Lose it! app, should really try it out, I just found out that it will sync from my droid to my account on Loseit.com, so I can access it from anywhere. Really liking it so far.

24 oz water

Lunch:
3 oz Chicken Kabob
1/2 cup Brown Rice
1 handful Fruit & Nut mix

24 oz water

Went for a 20 min ride when I got home this evening, had hoped to get a bit more in, but once the sun went down, the temp dropped fast,  and I was freezing in only a t-shirt and shorts, so i cut it short, I guess 20 min is better than what I did last night though.

cup black coffee, no sugar

Dinner:
3 oz chicken
1 med greek sald
3/4 cup steamed broccoli
16 oz water

Day 3 UUBL: Spring 2012

1/9/2012

And its back to work, not that I mind to much, I actually really enjoy my job, I have a lot of time to do my own stuff,( like keeping up with UU, practicing my office Uke, and other really important things)  while my computers are processing away.  Was a little annoyed that a process I left running over the weekend had an out of memory error and only completed half of the task, so I need to get that back up and running, and see if what it did complete is correct or not.

Was a bit surprised to find my weight at 227.2 this am, not getting my hopes up too much, cause I know it will fluctuate up and down a bit, but as long as it stays on an average downward trend, I am happy.

Breakfast:
1 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup raisins
1 apple
1 TBS Honey.
Coffee (black, no sugar)

This is pretty much what I eat every morning, or at least it was until I went crazy for the holidays, and started back on eggs and bacon and toast and butter and ....... But now I am back eating a more sensible breakfast. That alone should be a big help in getting where I want to be.

For Center Stage:
This is what the instrument I started on back in the 80's looked like.

OK, so it is lunch time, and strangely, I am not very hungry, but will have a bit any way. Still working on the huge pot of vegetarian chili i made. think I will freeze the rest and take a break, a little variety would be nice.

Lunch:
3/4 cup Vegi Chili
1 handful nuts & berries mix
20 oz water

Afternoon Snack:
Banana
20 oz water

16 oz green tea

Dinner:
3 oz Chicken Kabob
3/4 cup Brown Rice
Small Greek Salad
16 oz water
